Resources and Referrals

Resources and Referrals
The Good Shepherd Alliance works with many other programs, services, businesses and organizations to provide any helpful resources and referrals that will help the guests progress through their program. We receive calls on a regular basis from individuals seeking help with many things that we may not be able to provide, but we can direct them to someone who can. Often, we simply give some guidance or direction as to where they should call. We coordinate services with other groups for our shelter guests as well.

Other Agency Collaboration: The Good Shepherd Alliance works with many other programs, services, businesses and organizations to provide any helpful resources and referrals that will help the guests progress through their program such as: Loudoun County Family Services; VIEW Program; WIC Program; Child Protective Services; Emergency Services; Probation officers; Gift of Sight Program; Salvation Army; Red Cross; Local area churches; Local area dentists and doctors; Loudoun Cares; LINK; Interfaith Relief; Loudoun County Mental Health; Loudoun County PATH Program; Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter and Nurturing (parenting) Program; The Tire Shop and Goodyear (for guest’s auto needs); Local area restaurants; Volunteers of America; Loudoun County benefits worker (TANF, Medicaid, Food stamps); Loudoun County Schools - guidance counselors, principals, parents liaisons, truancy officers; and Loudoun County and Leesburg Police Departments. Cooperative relationships with county programs, other shelters, counseling services and other resources allows all service providers to better serve the same individuals and families without duplicating services and maximizing our impact in our community and for our program participants.

Every service we provide is in some way supported by the local community; long-term loan of homes for shelters and food pantries filled by local organizations and restaurants. Churches send volunteers for maintenance, tutoring and other services and local businesses provide at-cost or free car repairs, dentistry, or supplies. In-kind donations totaling over $100,000 are received in one year.

Cooperative relationships with county programs, other shelters, counseling services and other resources allows all service providers to better serve the same individuals and families without duplicating services and maximizing our impact in our community and for our program participants.
