Sterling firm donates roof to Good Shepherd Alliance
A Sterling company has donated a new roof to the Good Shepherd Alliance as
part of its seventh annual holiday giving program. DryHome Roofing and
Siding chose the nonprofit organization, which has helped the homeless
since1983, from the biggest pool yet of needy people and charities nominated for
a free roof.
Good Shepherd's executive director, Vickie Koth, asked for the help because
she said the Hebron Women and Families shelter's roof had been leaking.
DryHome had donated another in-kind roof for another shelter a few years
ago.

Heart of Gold Benefit
GSA held their 1st Annual Heart of Gold Benefit on November 14th at
AVCOM-Visual Arts Video Production Studios, a stunning video
production facility located in Sterling, Virginia.
The event was attended by State Delegate Tom Rust, Commissioner of
the Revenue Robert S. Wertz, Jr. and Sterling Planning Commissioner
Helena Syska. We were extremely honored and privileged to see our
local government officials out in support of GSA and our mission to
help the homeless.
An evening full of excitement, talent, great food and most
importantly, open hearts. What a blessing it was to hear the sweet
sounds of music by all of the talented performers that donated their
time and special gifting to help raise awareness to assist our area's
local homeless population. GSA would like to extend their gratitude
to Aces & Eights, John Peterson, Joy Lippard, Lolan Gholston, and Jon
Paul for their incredible voices and showmanship.
The Silent Auction and Raffle featured 51 items, most of which were
donated by local businesses as well as volunteers which included 2
glass tickets and VIP parking to a Washington Capitals Game from Ted
Leonsis, Washington Capitals Owner. Some of the other gifts
auctioned were a one week stay in Panama, one night stay & breakfast
for 2 at the luxurious Lansdowne Resort, a Haircut, Color, Style, and
Facial at Modern Concepts, hand-painted wine glasses from Embellish
Design, Diamond Earrings, Jewelry by LaBrie Design and oil changes at
Goodyear.
Another extension of gratitude to AVCom, Timberlake Sound, Imagery
Print & Promotions, MJ Productions, and Sweetz Bakery for joining
forces with our musical talent as they too opened up their hearts to
provide a signature service to make our event memorable and
successful.
